Feeling sorry for myself

I recently wrote a post on learning to take better care of myself as I’ve been having some issues with imbalance, migraines and tinnitus.

I saw the ENTS specialist a couple of weeks ago and underwent a set of hearing tests. This determined that whatever is happening with my ear is located in the inner ear. I had my MRI last week and I get the results tomorrow.

This last week or so I’ve not really felt myself. I’ve been getting migraines that come on so suddenly that I have to stop what I’m doing and lie down. I’m not too sure if these might be stress related.

feeling sorry for myself

Last week when I was buying food for M’s birthday party I was just not “with it”. I feel I didn’t do a great job with the party or put as much effort into things as I would normally have done and I think it is just down to all these symptoms that I’m having which seem to be getting progressively worse.

Thankfully I didn’t feel too bad on the day of the party so I was able to at least enjoy the day and see my boys have fun.

I’ve had tinnitus all week and at times the ringing is SO loud it’s hard to focus on anything else. I also seem to be more tired than usual and very forgetful which is not like me at all.

Poor Mr H has had to take on more of the household responsibilities (no bad thing) but then I feel guilty because these things are usually done by me.

The last few days my left nostril has been causing me pain and is congested. The mucus that comes out is very dry and bloody which makes me think I have some kind of infection.

I’m a little nervous about tomorrow, on the one hand, it will be good to find out what is actually wrong so I can it can be treated but on the other hand, I am worried about what the results might be.

According to Google it could be a possibility that I have Meniere’s Disease of which there is no cure. Medication is also not guaranteed to relieve the symptoms other things that came up based on my symptoms were Sinusitis or the dreaded C word. There is also a lot of advice about eye tests, eye health and checking your eyewear is suitable for your needs when looking online as well.
Whatever it is I just hope it can be treated.

Wish me luck!

  13. Sorry to hear you have not been feeling so good. But glad that the doctors are on it, whatever they say the problem is, at least you will know and they can treat or hopefully cure the problem. At times like these, we need to count our blessings for what we do have and in your case I think it is a wonderful family.

  17. Oh Maria, it sounds like you are really suffering at the moment. I think anyone would find it challenging to operate when they feel as awful as you have. I really hope that the Doctor is able to give you a diagnosis, and hopefully for something that is treatable. Stay away from Dr Google, it only ever makes you worry more than you did in the first place! Fingers crossed for you lovely x Emily #KCACOLS

  19. I’m so sorry to hear this lovely! Ironically I was at the doctor yesterday for a hearing test. I too have tinnitus (I just learned that’s what it’s called yesterday!) I have a heart beat sound in my ear. They are thinking of putting a little tube in my ear, I can’t think of the official name now. That’s supposed to stop the sound & fluid build up. I hope your issue gets sorted out quickly for you! #KCACOLS x

  21. Really sorry to hear this. Google is often the enemy in these situations as it never suggests the less severe (and often more likely) possibilities. As you say, once you know what’s wrong you can tackle it but I do hope that you have some respite from the tinnitus soon xx #KCACOLS

  22. Hope you’re feeling better soon! It’s so tough when you’re not feeling on top form, we have so many responsibilities that have to be left to other people which is even more stressful. xx #KCACOLS

  24. Oh poor you! I sympathise hugely as I also have similar issues. I just got my appointment through today for ENT (for the end of April!) to investigate further. It’s hard not knowing what is wrong when you feel so poorly, lots of love. #KCACOLS

Ah you poor thing. Sounds like you’ve been through a lot. Very brave of you to share. Great that you’ve had a thorough investigation. I hope you get well soon. #KCACOLS

  27. Aw I can totally relate to your symptoms. Last month I had an awful ringing in my ears and later that evening felt really off balance and like I was going to faint which made me totally freak out. I went to the docs for an emergency appointment and vommed in his office (ew!). Turned out I had a blockage in my ear tracts which confused my little brain. I had to steam for a couple of weeks. I really hope your results are okay and it’s nothing too serious. Hoping its not meniere’s. #KCACOLS x

  28. Really hope that you feel better soon, migraines and tinnitus are absolutely awful completely stopping you in your tracks. I had them through my pregnancy so I emphasis with you. Fingers crossed for good news with the results. Claire x #KCACOLS

  30. Try not to be hard on yourself regarding the party and the household chores. We can’t all be on top form all of the time. And with your health suffering at the moment you have a very good excuse to rest up. I really hope the results come back with something treatable and not at all scary. Good luck. #KCACOLS

  31. Harrys Honest Mummy

I hope you get it all sorted, and soon as well. Dr Google, whilst tempting, can also be a dangerous thing to read. Hope it is something that can be treated. Take Care. #KCACOLS
