Halloween seems to get bigger every year, doesn’t it? When the boys were younger they loved dressing up and going trick or treating, but choosing and carving their pumpkins has always been a big part of it too.

I used to just pick a couple up from the supermarket, but once we’d been pumpkin picking there was no going back! There’s something much more fun about wandering around a field looking for the one. My boys have always been very particular about theirs too. Apparently you can’t just pick up the first perfectly good pumpkin you see!

Now they’re teens, I have to admit that wandering around a pumpkin patch isn’t quite as exciting to them as it once was. So I’ve included some of the bigger pumpkin events and activities that work for older kids too, as well as the more traditional pick-your-own farms.

If you’re looking for somewhere to go pumpkin picking in Surrey in 2026, here are some of the best patches I’ve found, plus a few just over the Surrey border that are worth knowing about.

Pumpkins are generally charged separately unless a venue states otherwise.

Garsons Farm, Esher

We’ve been to Garsons loads of times for pumpkin picking over the last few years. It’s the closest pumpkin patch to us, so it’s usually the obvious choice when the boys want to go and choose their pumpkins.

Their Pumpkin Parade is back again for 2026, with thousands of pumpkins to choose from. And if your kids are still at the stage where running around looking for THE perfect pumpkin is half the fun, Garsons definitely ticks that box. Mine have always taken choosing theirs very seriously!

You’ll need to book a Farm Pass before visiting. Tickets are £6.50–£8 per person aged two and over, depending on the date, with under-twos free. Unlike in previous years, your admission isn’t deducted from the produce you pick, so you’ll pay for your pumpkins separately.

There are autumn displays and plenty of photo opportunities too, but for us it’s always really been about finding the pumpkins we’re taking home.

Crockford Bridge Farm, Addlestone

We tried Crockford Bridge Farm a few years ago and really liked it. It’s another proper pumpkin-field experience, so if you want to get the wellies on and actually head out into the field to choose your pumpkins, this is a good one.

For 2026, standard October pumpkin picking costs £7.50 per person aged one and over, plus a £1 booking fee. Under-ones are free, although the booking system currently adds a £1 booking fee to their ticket too.

Your ticket gets you into the pumpkin fields and displays, but you’ll pay separately for the pumpkins you choose. Parking is free.

Definitely wear wellies if the weather has been wet. Crockford even tells visitors to bring boots and umbrellas if it’s raining, so don’t turn up expecting a nice dry stroll around a garden centre!

Crockford is also running a separate Wonderland Pumpkin Festival in 2026. That’s a much bigger ticketed event with an immersive theatrical show, circus performers, pumpkin hunt, carving area and games. So make sure you’re booking the right thing if it’s mainly the pumpkin field you’re after.

Hobbledown Epsom Pumpkin Event

This one’s a bit different because you’re not really paying to visit a pumpkin patch. Instead, the pumpkin event is included as part of a day at Hobbledown Epsom.

Running from 26 September to 1 November 2026, Hobbledown’s autumn event includes thousands of pumpkins, squashes and gourds, themed photo displays and the chance to choose your own pumpkin. You’ll need to pay separately for whichever pumpkin you choose though.

General admission currently starts at £16.50 per person online, compared with a £19 walk-up price.

If you’re going during October half term, there’s also a Trick or Treat Trail running from 17 October to 1 November. Plus you’ve got all the usual Hobbledown stuff – indoor and outdoor play, farm and zoo animals, walk-through enclosures and the Imaginarium.

It’s obviously a lot more expensive than just popping to a PYO farm, but then you’re getting a whole day at Hobbledown as well. Probably not one I’d choose if we literally just wanted a couple of pumpkins!

Mayfield’s Secret Lavender Garden, Epsom

You probably associate Mayfield with fields of purple lavender rather than pumpkins, but its Secret Lavender Garden in Epsom gets an autumn makeover for Halloween.

For 2026, Malice Returns: The Sorcerer’s Apprentice runs from 10–31 October, with the pumpkin patch returning as part of the Halloween fun.

This isn’t really your traditional muddy-field PYO. It’s more of a Halloween day out that happens to include pumpkin picking, so probably better if you want to make more of an occasion of it.

They haven’t released all the 2026 ticket, pumpkin and parking prices yet, so I’ve left those as TBC for now rather than putting last year’s prices in. I’ll update them once they’re available.

Priory Farm, South Nutfield

Priory Farm is another one where you can either keep things fairly simple or turn pumpkin picking into more of a day out.

They’ve gone pretty big on pumpkins this year too, planting more than 65,000 seeds across 12 acres, with over 27 different varieties.

The standard Pumpkin Field runs from 17–31 October 2026. Entry costs £6 plus a 50p booking fee online, or £7 on the door if there’s availability. Pumpkins are then priced separately, starting from £1.50.

Or, if you’ve got younger kids who’ll enjoy the journey almost as much as choosing the pumpkin, there’s a Pumpkin Field Tractor Adventure. That costs £9 plus a 50p booking fee online or £10 on the door.

I like that you’ve got the choice here. You can keep it relatively simple and head straight to the field, or turn it into more of an outing with the tractor ride.

Secretts of Milford

We’ve also been pumpkin picking at Secretts in Milford and really enjoyed it. It’s a bit further for us to travel than Garsons or Crockford, so it’s not one we’d automatically head to every year, but it’s a good option if you’re over that side of Surrey.

For 2026, pumpkin picking runs from 17–30 October on selected days. Tickets are £8.50 per person aged two and over, with under-twos free, and pumpkins start from £3 depending on size.

You get a bit more than just wandering into a field, choosing a pumpkin and heading home too. Your ticket includes a Halloween scavenger trail, and there are extra activities including a haunted house, mini tractors and magic show for an additional charge.

Parking is free and I’d definitely book ahead rather than deciding to turn up on the day. This is one that can sell out.

Hans Christmas Andersen Pumpkin Farm, Godalming

This is a really useful one to know about if you don’t fancy paying just to get into a pumpkin field.

The Hans Christmas Andersen Pumpkin Farm at Van Arnhem Nursery near Godalming has free entry AND free parking, and you don’t need to book.

There are around 8,000 home-grown pumpkins across 18 varieties, along with family games and places to grab food and drink. You just pay for the pumpkins you choose, although they haven’t published the 2026 pumpkin prices yet.

The farm is due to open every day from mid-October until 31 October, from 10am–4pm. There’s no exact opening date yet, so I’d double-check before setting off.

This could be a particularly good option if you’ve got a few children. Paying £6–£10 each just to get into some pumpkin patches soon adds up before you’ve actually bought a single pumpkin!

Pumpkin picking near Surrey

A few of the biggest pumpkin events aren’t technically in Surrey, but they’re close enough that they’re worth knowing about. Especially if you’re looking for something a bit more than just choosing a pumpkin and heading home.

Tulleys Pumpkin Festival, Turners Hill

Tulleys is in West Sussex rather than Surrey, but it’s one of the biggest pumpkin events around and pretty doable from much of Surrey.

The Daytime Pumpkin Festival 2026 has timed entry, with tickets costing £8.95–£13.95 per person for adults and children aged two and over. Under-twos go free.

Admission includes the Pumpkin Field, Pumpkin Valley, loads of photo opportunities, roaming characters, musicians and access to the Pumpkin Village, where you’ll find street food.

Pumpkins cost £1–£25 depending on size and parking is free.

There’s also a separate Pumpkin Nights experience if you’d rather go after dark. That adds the Woodland Walk, live music stages and more of an evening atmosphere.

Basically, this isn’t somewhere I’d go if we just needed two pumpkins for carving! It’s much more of a proper autumn day out.

Rogate Pumpkin Patch, near Petersfield

Rogate is another one that’s technically outside Surrey, but this one really caught my attention for 2026.

The Pumpkin Patch is open daily from Friday 16 October to Saturday 31 October, from 9.30am with last entry at 3pm.

Tickets cost £10 for adults and children aged 2–16, with under-twos free. Parking is free.

There’s loads included alongside the pumpkin patch, including traditional games, Merlin’s Wood, Dracula’s Estate, giant haystacks, the Pumpkin Garden, photo areas and other activities. There are a few paid extras too, including marshmallow toasting and fairground rides.

But actually, the bit my boys would be most interested in comes after Halloween.

On Sunday 1 November, Rogate holds its Pumpkin Smash. Instead of picking the leftover pumpkins, you get to smash, spike, sling, drop, crush and chuck them as part of their end-of-season finale.

I think this is such a fantastic idea. Now my boys are teens, I can pretty much guarantee they’d be far more enthusiastic about smashing pumpkins than wandering around a field choosing one! We’re actually considering booking this for this year because it sounds right up their street.

Hobbledown Heath Pumpkin Patch, Hounslow

If you’re in north Surrey, Hobbledown Heath in Hounslow could actually be closer than some of the Surrey pumpkin patches.

It’s in West London, so I’ve deliberately put it down here rather than trying to sneak Hounslow into Surrey!

The 2026 pumpkin patch runs from 25 September to 1 November, with daytime pumpkin sessions as well as separate Pumpkin Nights. Pumpkins are paid for separately and there’s plenty going on around the patch, with games, entertainment and food.

Again, this is more of an event than somewhere you’d pop into quickly to choose a pumpkin. So if you want to make an afternoon or evening of it, it could be worth the trip.

Where is the best place to go pumpkin picking in Surrey?

It depends what you’re after. Garsons, Crockford Bridge Farm and Secretts are good choices for a more traditional pumpkin-picking trip, while Priory Farm and Hobbledown Epsom have more going on if you want to make a day of it. For something budget-friendly, Hans Christmas Andersen Pumpkin Farm has free entry and free parking.

Mine would definitely be more excited about smashing pumpkins than picking them these days!

When does pumpkin picking start in Surrey?

Some pumpkin events start from late September, but most of the traditional pumpkin-picking season runs through October, with lots of venues opening for their main events around October half term. Dates vary by venue, so check before travelling.

Which Surrey pumpkin patch should you choose?

If you just want a fairly straightforward trip to choose your pumpkins without spending loads before you’ve even got into the field, I’d look at Hans Christmas Andersen first. Entry and parking are both free, which is becoming a bit of a rarity!

For that proper PYO experience, Garsons, Crockford Bridge and Secretts are all good options. We’ve been to all three and enjoyed them, although Garsons tends to be our go-to simply because it’s closest to us.

With younger kids, Priory Farm’s Tractor Adventure could be fun, or you could make a whole day of it at Hobbledown Epsom.

And for older kids and teens? I genuinely think Rogate’s Pumpkin Smash wins that one. I’m pretty tempted myself this year!

Whatever you choose, I’d book sooner rather than later for the ticketed patches, particularly for October half term.
