Mother’s Day at The Bentall Centre

As a mum myself, Mother’s Day is a day that gets to be all about me. Whether you think it’s commercialised or not (as the case may be), other than your birthday, when else can you be guaranteed a lie-in and have some time to yourself?

“Me time” can be virtually non-existent for mums. There is always something that needs to be done around the house, groceries to buy and dinners to cook. So when The Bentall Centre, Kingston offered to send my mum, sister and I to spend some quality time together how could we refuse?

We were booked in to have a makeover, followed by some lunch. The timing couldn’t be better as we headed into Kingston on the day of my mum’s birthday.

Makeover at Bentalls Beauty Hall

Our first stop was the Bentalls Beauty Hall which is located within The Bentall Centre. There is a huge selection of beauty counters on offer, we were booked in for a makeover session at the Lancôme counter.

The ladies who were looking after us were very friendly and informative. We all had a mini face cleansing session to start with before being walked through the different types of products that were being used for our makeover.

I’m not great with makeup and I have a very basic skincare routine of cleansing and moisturising. Yvonne, the lady I had, made sure I was comfortable and gave me some great suggestions on how I could hydrate my skin as it was a little dry. I’ve also heard that Vitamin C serums can do wonders for your skin too.

I also picked up some great tips on how to apply eye makeup too. (I usually just use eyeliner and mascara). We were impressed with our final looks – what do you think? I liked that fact we weren’t caked in makeup and that we simply looked a little more “polished” than usual.

We were each handed a list of all the Lancôme products that were used in our makeover so we could refer back to at a later date and purchase should we wished to do so.

Lunch at Restaurant on 3

After being thoroughly pampered in the Beauty Hall and feeling like a million dollars, we headed up to the third floor to the newly revamped Restaurant on 3 for lunch.

The restaurant is the perfect pit-stop after a morning’s shopping or, in our case a makeover. I’ve visited Restaurant on 3 with Mr H and the boys numerous times before but before the re-vamp and I have to say it looks great! There are plenty of tables available for families and a child-friendly area in the corner too.

It was really nice to be able to enjoy lunch with my mum and sister – I can’t remember the last time we did something like this together.

There is plenty of choice at Restaurant on 3. From a salad cart to wood-fired pizzas, roast dinner to fish and chips, how could I not mention the mouth-watering pastry/cake table? My mum decided to have a roast dinner, and my sister and I opted for the burgers, which were delicious!

All in all, we had a lovely day celebrating my mum’s birthday; it was great to spend some time together and has made us realise that we need to do it more often.

Why not treat your mum and book yourselves in for a makeover and lunch too? The Bentall Centre has some great offers in the Beauty Hall for you and your mum to enjoy.

There is a joint make-up session available at Laura Mercier. A detox pamper and make-up tips at Clinique and much more.
