I heart baths
I love my baths, pre-children I loved nothing more than having a long hot soak whilst reading a book. Then the boys came along and baths went out of the window pretty quickly in favour of a quick shower that could be grabbed when you had 5 minutes of peace. It’s better nowadays of course, as the boys are a bit older but they still love to barge into the bathroom declaring that they “need a poo” or they are desperate to tell you something that obviously really cannot wait until you finish.
We have no bath handles in our bathtub which isn’t a problem for us but when my mother-in-law (who has a dodgy knee) comes to stay and uses the bathroom she struggles a little with getting in and out and out of the bath. Who knew that something we take for granted and not give a moment’s thought to could be someone else’s struggle?
Luckily, there are lots of bathing solutions available these days which can help people with mobility issues. One of my friends has suffered from a bad back for years and has given me a wealth of information as to what’s available. Walk-in baths, showers, wet rooms – a solution to suit every individuals need. It’s something my mother-in-law will definitely be considering when she looks to move closer to us. She’s told me she loves her baths too much to even want to consider the possibility of giving them up and do you know what? I don’t blame her one bit.
