Orchard Toys: Alphabet Jigsaw and Robot Run review

So as “official” toy testers our first task was to review two new products that Orchard Toys have just added to their range. The boys were very excited when a package for them arrived through the post and set about opening them straight away.

Alphabet Jigsaw

The puzzle was a hit and it took no time at all for them to get stuck in. As with all Orchards products they are very sturdy. The puzzle pieces a nice and chunky which makes it easy for little hands to grab. It also comes with a “to scale” poster too. E liked using the poster as a template so he could overlay the correct pieces quicker.

Although the puzzle is suitable for children aged 3-6, M (at 2 and a half) gave the puzzle a really good go and could put the pieces together with help. It’s great for little one’s hand-to-eye co-ordination and concentration and for the older ones (like E who’s 5) it helps them with their literacy skills.

The Big Alphabet Jigsaw retails at £9.75 which I think is really good value for money as the puzzle is a really good size.

Robot Run

Next up was the Robot Run game. E and I enjoyed playing this together and he very quickly grasped the concept of the game which is quite similar to snap.

The idea is that each player is dealt five cards which you lay out infront of yourself for everyone else to see. The remaining cards are put face down in a centre pile. Each player then takes it in turns to turn a card over from the centre pile. If the card you turn over matches (either by colour or by robot) you can move the one that matches to a new pile of card that have been turned over. The aim of the game is to be the first to match all of your robots.

This game is great for improving their observation skills aswell as shape recognition. Robot Run retails at £7.50 and is a great game for all the family.

Orchard Toys are just fantastic….These look like great sets! The Robot Run looks like a lot of fun x

We are also fans of orchard toys at home. They are very good. We will be doing some reviews for them too which is very exciting! I like The Robot Run a lot. I think this can be a hit at home.
