A quick guide to making home maintenance a breeze
Home maintenance is probably one of the most challenging things about owning your own home. It’s your responsibility to take care of the various jobs around the house, so knowing how to do it without stressing yourself out is key. Below, you’ll find a few ways you can make home maintenance a breeze:
Spread the work out over the week/month
If you spread the work out, it’s going to seem far more manageable than trying to dedicate a whole day or even an entire weekend to it. Try to create a rota, so you know when exactly you need to do which task. Even if you do one important task each day, you will have so much more done by the end of the week. Setting a timer while you do it can help you to stay on track and minimise the time you spend doing it.
Find a way to reduce clutter
Clutter can make living in the home way more stressful. It might take you a long time to find something you need, plus, it’s just not very nice to look at. Don’t make your surfaces dumping grounds, and instead, make sure you have a process for sorting your clutter and putting it away somewhere safe if you really need to. Documents and letters can quickly become clutter, for example, but if you deal with them right away and have an appropriate place to put the letters you need to keep, you should be able to keep everything far tidier.
Figure out what your other main sources of clutter are and see if you can come up with a solution for them too. If you can’t see yourself getting rid of clutter right away, you could designate one dumping ground rather than say, three.
Install Astroturf
Making your grass healthy and vibrant green can be tough, and even if you manage it, it probably won’t last year-round. However, with Astro Turf Installation, you can minimise the maintenance while making sure that the grass looks good. It does still require a little maintenance, but very little in comparison to real grass.
Get your whole family involved
Don’t take on the burden of home maintenance and chores yourself. Hand them out for family members based on age suitability and time availability. For kids, you could give them a star chart and let them earn rewards as an incentive. At the very least, everybody should be responsible for their own bedrooms and their own mess.
Don’t Stress About it
At the end of the day, the chores you have to do will wait. Stressing over everything you have to do will only make things feel much worse. If you really don’t have time, you could always hire help, like a one-off cleaning company to come in and clean your home. It won’t cost much, and you can have the time – which is the most valuable thing we all have!
