Amazing adult cartoons you can find on streaming services
At the end of the week, a lot of us are looking for something fun to sit down and watch with our family. There are a lot of great cartoons on streaming services that will not only entertain the kids but will also offer you something fun to watch. Adult cartoons are the perfect choice for a weeknight when looking for casual viewing, and this selection offers some amazing stories as well as interesting animation to enjoy as a family.
Here are our top picks for cartoons you can find on streaming services that are both fun and clever.
Rick and Morty
The first cartoon you can find on a streaming platform such as Hulu or Netflix is Rick and Morty. If you have never seen this cartoon before but have heard about the controversy with the fanbase – don’t be put off by this. Rick and Morty involve the titular characters – grandfather and grandson respectively – going on adventures in space as well as discovering exciting parts of the universe. One thing to enjoy as an adult about this is the clever references and scientific accuracy of many of the storylines.
Futurama
If you loved The Simpsons and you never got around to watching its sister show – Futurama – now is the time to do so. Futurama can be found on Disney+ and offers a fun view of the year 3000 and everything that goes on there. The main character, Phillip.J.Fry is cryogenically frozen while delivering a pizza on 31st December 1999 and wakes up 1000 years later to find a whole new world. As well as whacky hijinx, this show offers some real heartwarming moments as well as emotional gravity with some of the storylines. For all of the family, it is a brilliant show that delves into some real issues and presents them in a fun way.
Final Space
Carrying on with the sci-fi theme – Final Space is a lesser-known cartoon that only started airing a few years ago on Netflix. The show follows Gary Goodspeed who is imprisoned for 5 years after accidentally murdering some of the galactic police force. This show is fun and often delves into emotional moments that offset its fun feel. The kids will appreciate the fun adventures taken on by the crew, and you will appreciate the real storylines presented including loss, grief, and love.
Solar Opposites
From the creators of Rick and Morty, Solar Opposites is on Disney Plus and only started airing in 2020. It centres around a family of aliens who had to escape their homeworld and come to Earth, and follows their adjustment and often confusion at human life. It is a fun story and also has a B Plot centred around a world of miniaturised human adults who have been imprisoned by the teenage boy alien. As a fairly new show, it is a fun watch and has some really surprising moments as well as an adorable character called the Pupa.
Enjoy some of these cartoons this week if you are looking for shows that the whole family can watch together.
