Dining room refresh
One day in the not too distant future we are finally going to get round to redecorating the house. We’ve been here for over 10 years now and it’s definitely time for a refresh.
I have lots of ideas on the things I’d like to upcycle and do myself but the problem is I never seem to have enough time!
I would love to be a Pinterest mum and turn my hand to crafting beautiful items but I can only dream!
I’m good at giving walls or doors a new lick of paint and I’m pretty meticulous at stripping wallpaper too.
One of the things I’d like to do is change our dining room. I’d like to upcycle our dining room chairs. To be fair, there’s nothing wrong with them from a practical point of view but now the boys are a little older, I’d like to be able to have a lighter colour (they are dark brown)
Rather than spending money on new ones I think we’d be able to get away with recovering them with some fabric rolls of our choice. Combine that with a new oilcloth our dining table I think it would instantly transform the look of our dining room.
Our wooden flooring has also seen better days and I’m desperate to have this changed over the next year or so. There are some great laminate alternatives nowadays which look just like wood so I think I just need to convince Mr H to go for lighter colour!
We also need some new blinds/curtains for our french windows. We currently have Ikea ones that are worn on the edges. Annoyingly they don’t do the same panels anymore so we can’t replace them!
Finally, a new lick of paint on the walls and woodwork is needed too. You may have gathered by now that I want to choose lighter and brighter colours and whilst I wouldn’t want to paint the walls white I have got bored of the brown/beige feature wall we currently have.
What would you change in your dining room if you were to redecorate?
