Slimming World – the beginning
So following on from my post yesterday about healthier eating and a new me I spent saturday morning working out what hubby and I are going to eat this week. I’ve done many diets in my time and I have to say when I first read the Slimming World literature it was hard to get my head around it. There is no counting calories or points – they call it Food Optimising and things like eggs, pasta and potatoes are “free” Once I delved into it a little more it just makes so much sense. Its a healthier lifestyle – thinking twice about what you put into your body, healthier choices, low fat ways of cooking the foods you still love.
Of course, alot of this is common sense to a point, but sometimes when you are stuck in a rut and don’t know where to begin you need a little guidance and this is what Slimming World is currently giving me.
I kick-started my “new me” plan by participating in a Race for Life 5k yesterday. I didn’t train for it and I am aching today – but I feel good and I’m ready to tackle my first Slimming World week. As ever, I’ll be updating you all on my progress weekly here. (eeek!)
My meal plan for the week based on Slimming World as follows:

Lunch – Chicken salad lunchbox SW style
Dinner – Pork escalopes with swede mash, served with mange tout, baby corn and carrots

Nice one with the race for life! Me and running…nope, prefer my bike, so I’m impressed as I’d be useless)
I never diet, and don’t do low fat, but I do watch what I eat and try more and more to cut processed food out and cook everything from scratch and I have really noticed a big difference over time, especially feeling healthier.
Your slimming world meal plan does sound really good and plenty to eat and a good mix of foods. Have a great week anyways! 😉
Thank you – I am not very good at running either so power walked it round instead.
I do feel better about myself already (3 days in) and I think for me I need to re-educate myself into making healthier choices. Hubby and I have been eating alot of junk and convenience food since the beginning of the year and so I’ve gotten lazy at cooking properly!
Let me know how you get on! I’m just cutting back on rubbish drinking more and trying to move more for now and seeing how that goes!
Stevie xx
Three days in and its going ok so far. It doesn’t feel like I am dieting though which is new for me! Still can’t get my head around the fact that potatoes, pasta and rice are “free” on SW?!
Good luck to you too – sounds like you are being sensible which is the way to go! x
All sounds delicious, I hope your first week is going well! I’ve never done Slimming World but a few people at work do and have got into better habits with it. Hope you’re having a good week xx
