Revamping your child’s bedroom
No doubt, like most parents, you’re constantly asking your kids to clean their rooms. With toys and clothes strewn everywhere, they can look so messy.
But what if it’s not just mess that’s letting the bedroom down? Wear and tear, as well as bad design, can add to a room’s tired appearance. Here’s three ways you can revamp your child’s bedroom.
A new carpet
Carpets are so useful in kids’ rooms. They are soft, ideal for walking and playing on. They’re a better surface to catch a fall or trip than a hard floor. And they’re really cosy too. However, carpets can get dirty, stained and worn down quite quickly too.
Although they’re not cheap to replace – with the materials and carpet fitting cost to consider – a new carpet can revive a bedroom. For best results, look for a durable option in a colour that won’t show up every speck of dirt. Whether you plump for a synthetic or natural carpet will depend somewhat on your budget. Synthetic carpets tend to be more durable but choosing a twist pile carpet can also be a hard-wearing option.
Paint the walls
A good paint job on the walls can give any room an instant lift. But in a child’s bedroom, this can be especially true. With sticky fingers, scuffs and marks to withstand, walls can quickly look grubby.
Go for a paint shade that will lighten or brighten the whole room. A soft yellow, blue or green could be a nice option. Choosing a paint that is wipeable will help the room stay looking good too. And keep any leftover paint for quick touch-ups in the future.
Add better storage
Kid’s bedrooms can sometimes look permanently messy because there’s simply not enough storage. Bedrooms don’t always have a lot of space, so just adding more cupboards may not be possible. So, really you need to think about better, rather than more storage.
Open storage units with lots of different sections can be great for organising your children’s toys. Low storage units with bench seating on the top are a great multi-purpose option. And wall-mounted shelves are great for books, and bits and pieces. Fixed shelves won’t take up any floor space either.
And that’s three ways you can revamp your child’s bedroom. Hopefully, you’ll find these ideas useful.
