Top tips for redecorating your child’s bedroom

Our boys’ bedroom is their little haven where they take themselves off to play, read books and of course sleep. They’ve shared a bedroom since M was 8 months old.

Now they’re 5 and 8 we’re looking to update and redecorate their bedroom to reflect their personalities a little more.

Here are some top tip for redecorating your child’s bedroom.

Get them involved

Get children involved is crucial to creating a room that they will enjoy using. Not only that, by letting them make some of the decisions on colour schemes and themes will also mean they are less likely to change their minds later down the line. You can also take it a step further and let them help you paint the walls too. They will have so much fun and will no doubt appreciate their newly decorated bedroom even more!

Have a feature wall

If the bedroom space allows it, have one wall that is a feature wall. You could paint this in a bright, bold colour, wallpaper it with their favourite character or even have a striking mural. Wallsauce have a wide range of wallpapers and murals suitable for children of all ages.

The beauty of having a feature wall also means that when they are ready for a change, you can update it easily with the next thing they are into!

Flexible furnishing

Rugs, cushions, curtains and bed covers can really compliment your colour scheme. They also add some texture and fun to the bedroom too and are relatively inexpensive to replace.

Incorporate plenty of storage

Good storage is a must for any child’s bedroom to keep the room organised. If toys, books and cuddly toys have a designated home it’ll also make it easier for the kids to keep their room neat and tidy. Storage needn’t be expensive either you could look to upcycle old furniture and get the children involved in painting them in their favourite colours!
