Are You Prepared For Your New Baby?
Preparing for a new baby is a stressful and exciting time for you and your partner. You need to have everything in place so that it runs smoothly when you have your newborn. After all, you don’t want to go out hunting down a pram after they have arrived! Therefore, you need to have everything all set and ready to go in your home before baby arrives!
Check the list below to make sure you are prepared for your new arrival.
You have bought a tonne of nappies
An average baby will use around eight nappies a day when they are born. Therefore, you need to be fully stocked up before their arrival. You can often get a good discount if you buy in bulk. So buy a few packs to save some money. Remember to make sure you buy the right size so that it will fit your newborn. Don’t hesitate to go for supermarket own brands; Asda’s own nappies have won several awards and are much cheaper than well-known makes!
You have kitted out the nursery
You need the nursery to be ready to go before your baby has arrived. It means everything needs to be built and in function a couple of months before. Firstly, you need a great crib which will be perfect for your little one. You can look in stores or online to find a good sized crib like these cots from cuckooland.com. Additionally, you need a great changing unit. When buying several items at once, you are likely to get a special deal. Therefore, go shopping with your partner for all the items for your nursery on the same day to save some money!
You have several baby names in mind
It can be a hard decision when thinking of baby names, but unless you want to call the baby ‘it’ for the first few days, you need to have a name in mind before they are born! You can get so many baby books and advice online on names which will be great for your little one. Sit down with your partner and compile a list of ‘possibilities’ for your newborn that you both like. Remember to think of middle names as well. Once you see your child, you should be able to cut your list down to one name you love.
You have planned the birth
When you see the midwife, you need to discuss your plans for the birth. Of course, you never know what exactly will happen during the birth of your baby, but having a plan will help the midwife make the experience run smoothly. You may want to attend a birth class where you will learn more about options for pain management and breathing techniques. Also, remember to sort out your hospital bag a few weeks before your due date. It means you will be ready to go when labour begins!
If you already have one child, you need to prepare them for the new arrival and explain what will happen and how it will affect your family. You may want to take them to some sibling classes to help them feel involved in the process.
