What do your dreams say about you?
Ever wondered the meaning behind your dreams?
I’m quite a deep sleeper and whilst I don’t dream regularly when I do dream they can be really vivid and feel very real.
I used to dream a lot about my teeth falling out or they were crumbling away. I read somewhere a long time that it meant I feared losing my friends. Having had a quick search on google it seems that it’s also to do with feelings of powerlessness and insecurity in some aspect of my life so I guess it’s probably a good sign that I haven’t dreamt about this in a while now.
Adjustamatic, a company that makes adjustable beds for the elderly have recently launched their #DreamsExplained campaign. They have teamed up with Ian Wallace a leading dream expert to decode children’s dreams. It’s interesting to find out that children from the ages of 5-7 tend to dream about creatures like goblins and elves.
I clearly remember dreaming about monsters being under my bed when I was a child – luckily this hasn’t happened with the boys (yet) although M does ask me if there are monsters in the room.
When E was younger he went through a phase of having night terrors. He would wake up crying and screaming and nothing we did seemed to get him out of that state. It was not a nice thing to experience but we realised he wasn’t fully awake when this happened and the best thing to do was to comfort him, wait it out and pop him back to bed. Thankfully this phase didn’t last very long.
I asked him recently to tell me about some of the dreams he has and they all sound like extensions of his daily life – things like playing Minecraft (he tells me he dreamt about building villages!) or playing with his school friends and dreaming about going to America (we told him we would take him when he’s 8!) By the sounds of it he hasn’t dreamt about monsters or goblins so maybe he’s onto the stage of dreams already?
