Is moving house when you’re pregnant do-able?
When you combine two of life’s most stressful situations: moving out and being pregnant, you just think they can’t possibly be done at the same time, right? What with all the stress, health issues and the financial implications that come with being pregnant it can be a really stressful time.
However, there are ways to make the situation of moving out when pregnant a whole lot easier: here a few of them.
Firstly, you should organise and prepare as far in advance for the move as possible in order to not only moderate your stress levels but to be able to keep the move going ahead even if there were to be any complications with the pregnancy. For example, if you sort out a professional transportation service to move all of your worldly belongings as soon as you possibly can, whether it be a move that is only taking you a few blocks away or for one that is taking you a bit further, in which case you’d have to use the services of long distance movers, you can rest assured and have a peace of mind in the fact that you know that your belongings will be moved, regardless of if that day you have to head to hospital for a scan.
Also, reserving your truck in advance will mean that you won’t ever have to worry, throughout the whole process, that when the big moving day finally arrives, you won’t be left on the side of the road with all of your stuff waiting for a truck that isn’t coming.
But before that day comes, you’ll have to pack and label everything. You could leave it to the last minute, but as previously mentioned there might be complications or even a premature birth to contend with when it comes to the day that you set aside to do all the packing. Other than this, there are things like pregnancy brain where you do tend to forget things due to the pregnancy! So what if the big moving day comes around and you realise you’ve forgotten to label or even pack your finest china? This is why it’s best to get everything done as early as possible, in order to give you time to remember everything and to do things whilst you still remember them.
You should also be prepared for when the baby comes and what will be available to him/her in the new area. Being in a new environment, you’ll have to make sure you have everything you’ll need. Whether that’s healthcare, help with the pregnancy or living assistance. For instance, you may have to change your healthcare provider and prenatal care to make sure that the birth is as healthy as it can be, no matter where you are. As well as this, you’ll have to childproof the new home too.
Although being pregnant and moving is two of life’s biggest milestones, it can be done at the same time, no matter what any naysayers have to say.
