Life under lockdown: week 7

I want to document our life during this lockdown period due to COVID-19 pandemic, somewhere to jot down thoughts, feelings and generally how our family is coping with life under lockdown…

Week beginning Monday 4 May 2020

I am having some very weird dreams at the moment. One of them, we were dining out at a restaurant where we all had to sit on our own tables and in another, M had walked off when we were out, and we couldn’t find him.

In other news, I’ve been collating video clip of all the children in E’s class this week to put together a little message for their teacher. It’s amazing to see how much they have all grown since we’ve been in lockdown and the video is rather poignant given how long it’s been since they were all together.

M made bread this week as part of his schoolwork which he really enjoyed doing. It tied in nicely with him learning about different measurements. E on the other hand was tasked with making a boat and seeing how many LEGO pieces it could take before it sunk.

It was a short week as bank holiday was on Friday this year to tie in with VE day. We didn’t have any real plans to celebrate but ended up on our drive with our neighbours on either side. It made a nice to change to be able to chat with other people, and the boys enjoyed playing out the front which they’ve never really done before.

Sunday night is now our designated quiz night with friends. It’s funny how times like these have brought us closer together. Before, we would probably see each other 5-6 times a year when we’d organise barbecues and get-togethers, but one thing this pandemic has done is have us chatting to each other on a weekly basis and improving our general knowledge nonetheless!

May is usually a really busy month for us, with three of us celebrating birthdays. E is going to be 10 in a few weeks, and I can hardly believe the fact that I will be a mum to a 10-year-old! It will, of course, be very different this year. No party and no seeing family or friends but we will celebrate with the four of us nonetheless.
