The most important thing about cleaning emeralds is to steer clear from any steam or an ultrasonic. This is because ultrasonic vibrations can weaken stones, and steam can cause oil to sweat out of your emerald.

Below are some helpful steps for cleaning your emerald ring:

1. First, its good practice to get a soft cloth, such as a microfiber cloth to remove any dirt, or oil that might have accumulated on your emerald ring.
2. Secondly, fill a small bowl or glass with tepid, lukewarm water. Make sure to add some mild soap or washing up liquid in the bowl as well. Then place your emerald ring in the glass or bowl.
3. Locate a soft brush toothbrush in order to gently brush clean your ring. The toothbrush can really help to get in between the hard to reach areas. Because it is a soft brush, you don’t need to be afraid to rigorously brush your emerald ring in order to get all the dirt off your jewellery.
4. Next, you need to rinse off the soapy water. You can either rinse under a tap, or you can re-fill your bowl/glass with clean water and re-submerge your jewellery into the water to remove any soap.
5. The last step to cleaning your emerald jewellery is to dry it off. Again, a microfiber cloth is quite useful here as it makes it less likely that any fibres will get caught in your jewellery again.
