Disney blinds improve children’s mood during COVID lockdown

Amongst many changes during the COVID-19 lockdown period, there has also been an increase in intent towards home decor and interior design. More specifically, Google Trends shows a 67% increase in search queries related to ‘home decor’ in the UK alone. The peak that we can see in March 2020 is the highest it has ever been, not only during the last six months, but it has hit an all-time high over the last five years! When we look at home ‘home decor’ related searches over the last 10 years, the growth is phenomenal.

Decorating your home is a great way to express how you feel, improve the comfort of where you live, ease anxiety and be an overall fun activity with your family.

The decorations across various rooms can range depending on who uses the rooms most, what functionality you need to get from the room, and what you have available in terms of resources.

When it comes to decorating your little one’s bedroom or playroom, a great place to start is by looking for furniture and accessories to complement their unique personalities.  For example, if your child is an outgoing born performer, then some items that feature microphones and flashing lights will make them feel centre stage. Alternatively, if your child is more of a practical scientist, perhaps some potions and a workbench will be better suited. It is great to play around with complementary colours and bring some life to their room.

Not only can you tailor their room to their personality, but you can also decorate it around their love for Disney! If your child has a favourite Disney character, whether its Marvel, Toy Story or old school classic Disney, there are a fabulous range of Disney roller blinds to choose from.

How bedroom features can impact on behaviour

The decor around your child’s windows is some of the most important features of the bedroom. Not only are windows a focal point for the eye when someone enters the room, but your child will often spend most of their time drawn towards the outdoors, meaning it will also be the centre of their attention.

In fact, there are studies that show how the colours used throughout your childs’ bedroom can have an impact on mood and behaviour.

Dare to go red (just a touch)

Red has the ability to energise the body and excite the mind, increasing heart and breathing rates. However, some research suggests that too much exposure to red encourages aggressive behaviour and an inability to focus. The bottom line: Red is great as an accent, as shown in this room which features fantastic Toy Story blinds, but might not be the best wall colour for a restless child.

Bring the sunshine to you with yellow

Most of us associate yellow with feelings of happiness and cheerfulness. Studies also pair this bright and cheery colour with motivation; softer yellows can aid concentration, while brighter ones can increase memory. Beware of using too much bright yellow, though. In large doses, it may create feelings of agitation and even anger. These Lion King blinds and decor are the perfect balance of yellow tones to bring a natural feel to the room.

Go, Go, Go Green

This calming, natural colour has a soothing impact on a child. Scientists have also found that green may improve a child’s reading speed and comprehension. There’s no need to keep this anxiety-reducing colour to a minimum.
