GCSE Results Day Free Food & Restaurant Deals (2026 Guide)
Quick note before we start. Restaurants usually only confirm GCSE results day offers a few days before the actual date. So the examples below are based on deals that have run in previous years. Think of this more as a guide to the kinds of places that might do something rather than a guaranteed list for 2026. It’s always worth checking the restaurant’s website or social media pages before heading out.
GCSE results day is one of those slightly strange parenting milestones.
For months everything has revolved around revision timetables, exam stress and trying to keep teenagers vaguely focused on past papers. Then suddenly it all comes down to one envelope.
Within minutes the phones start buzzing, group chats light up and teenagers are already asking where everyone is going afterwards.
Because for a lot of them, celebrating usually means food.
Every year a few restaurant chains run GCSE results day free food deals or discounts for students celebrating with friends, so it’s become a bit of a thing.
Over time restaurants have definitely clocked onto it. Quite a few chains now run little promotions on results day – things like free desserts, starters or discounts if students show their exam results.
It’s become a bit of an unofficial results-day tradition.
You’ll often see groups of teenagers heading straight from school into town, still clutching envelopes, trying to decide where to eat. I can already picture ours doing exactly that – results envelope in one hand, phone in the other trying to decide where to go.
When Is GCSE Results Day 2026 in England?
GCSE results day in England will be Thursday 20 August 2026.
Most schools open from around 8am so students can collect their results in person. Some schools also release them online later in the morning, although many teenagers still prefer going in to collect them with friends.

Once the results are out though, the focus tends to move pretty quickly to celebrating.
The exact restaurant offers change every year and they’re often only confirmed during the week of results day. But these are some of the chains that have run promotions in previous years and may do something similar again.

Nando’s Results Day Dash
If your teenager is heading out with friends after collecting their results, there’s a very good chance someone will suggest Nando’s.
They’ve run something called the “Results Day Dash” for several years now. Students show their GCSE or A-Level results and if they spend a small amount on food they can usually claim a free starter or side.
It’s not quite a completely free lunch, but it’s definitely become a bit of a results day tradition.
If your local branch is taking part you’ll often see groups of students heading straight there after leaving school.
Bella Italia Celebration Offers
Bella Italia has also taken part in GCSE results promotions in recent years.
Usually the offer is fairly simple. Students who show their results slip can claim a free starter and dessert when ordering a main meal.
That works quite well if a group of friends are celebrating together. Everyone orders a main and still gets a couple of extras with it.
Sometimes these meals end up turning into family celebrations too if parents decide to join afterwards.
Frankie & Benny’s Free Pizza Deal
Frankie & Benny’s has also run results day deals before.
In some years students have been able to claim a free margherita pizza when showing their exam results and buying a soft drink.
Some branches limit how many students can redeem the offer, so it can end up being first-come-first-served. But for teenagers meeting friends in town it’s still a pretty appealing way to celebrate without spending loads.
Las Iguanas Free Churros
Not every results day promotion involves a full meal.
Las Iguanas has previously offered free churros for students who show their exam results. Sometimes you didn’t even need to buy anything else.
That makes it quite a popular stop if teenagers are wandering around town rather than sitting down for lunch somewhere.
It’s only a small treat, but on results day even something like free churros can feel like a proper celebration.
Zizzi’s Mystery Envelope
Zizzi has taken a slightly different approach in the past.
Students showing their exam results have sometimes been given a sealed envelope at the table, with a mystery prize inside. It might be a free starter, dessert, drinks or something else from the menu.
Teenagers tend to love the suspense of opening the envelope to see what they’ve won. It turns a normal meal out into a bit more of an event.
Banana Tree
Banana Tree has also run GCSE results day promotions before.
Students showing their exam results have previously been able to claim a free chicken or vegan katsu dish when buying a soft drink. In some cases the offer required signing up online beforehand.
It’s one of the slightly less obvious deals, but for teenagers who enjoy Asian street food it can be a nice alternative to the usual chains.
Bill’s
Bill’s has tended to keep its results day offers fairly simple.
Students who show their exam results and order a main meal have sometimes been able to claim a free dessert from the menu.
Not the biggest freebie on the list, but still a nice extra if families end up going out together after collecting results.
Byron
Burger chain Byron has also joined in with GCSE results celebrations before.
Students showing their results have sometimes been able to claim two-for-one burgers.
If a group of friends are meeting up to celebrate, that kind of deal can make things a lot more affordable.
Côte Brasserie
Côte has run a few different promotions around results day over the years.
In some cases students showing their exam results have been able to claim a free dessert when dining with someone ordering a main meal.
There have even been themed promotions before — for example students who took French exams being able to claim a dish like steak frites.
Chiquito
Chiquito has occasionally taken part in results day celebrations as well.
Students have previously been able to claim a free main meal when another main meal is purchased, simply by showing their exam results.
Like a lot of these promotions though, the exact details can vary depending on the location.
Wagamama
Wagamama tends to offer discounts rather than completely free food.
Students showing their exam results have sometimes been able to get around 25% off their bill when signed up to the restaurant’s loyalty programme.
For teenagers heading out in groups that sort of discount can still make quite a noticeable difference.
Cinema Treats and Film Deals
Not every teenager wants to celebrate results day in a restaurant.
Some prefer heading to the cinema with friends instead. In the past certain cinema chains have offered small extras for students showing their exam results, like free drinks or snacks with a ticket.
These offers tend to vary depending on the cinema and location though, so they’re not always widely advertised.
If cinema plans are being discussed, it’s worth having a quick look at the cinema’s website or social pages just in case.
Check Restaurant Apps and Local Deals Too
The big restaurant chains usually get most of the attention around GCSE results day, but they’re not the only places that sometimes run offers.
If your teenager already has restaurant apps on their phone, it’s worth checking those before heading out. Lots of chains run app-only discounts that don’t always appear in national lists.
Places like Toby Carvery, Harvester and similar family restaurants often send vouchers through their apps. They may not advertise specific GCSE promotions, but something might pop up around results day.
It’s also worth checking local cafés and restaurants on social media. Smaller independent places sometimes run their own little celebrations for students — free milkshakes, desserts or discounted meals for anyone showing their results.
A Quick Tip for Parents
If your teenager is heading into town with friends after collecting their results, remind them to take proof of their results with them.
Most restaurants running results day deals will ask to see the results slip from school or a digital copy on their phone.
It sounds obvious, but it’s surprisingly easy for them to forget when they’re rushing out the door to meet friends.
After months of revision, exams and nerves though, most of them just want to relax with their friends and enjoy the moment.
Whether that celebration ends up being a big meal, free churros or just sitting somewhere together comparing results, GCSE results day is one of those milestones they’ll probably remember for a long time..
GCSE Results Day FAQs
