Our Roundup of Family Friendly Restaurants Surrey
It’s no secret that we love eating out as a family. We’re definitely foodies, and we’ve been lucky that the boys have been good eaters growing up. Many times, they prefer the adult menu choices over the kids’ ones for a bit more variety than your standard chicken nuggets and chips. However, there have definitely been many kids’ classic meals ordered when we’ve headed out for reviews in various family friendly restaurants Surrey.
With this in mind, we thought we’d do a round-up of some great places to eat in Surrey — we’ve personally visited these and can’t wait to share the delicious details. Just in case you’re struggling for places to eat or need to sink your teeth into something new, rest assured that these spots offer high-quality, delicious food.
So if you’re tired of scrolling through listings that sound great but you’re not sure will stand up to kids, sticky fingers, or caffeine emergencies? Let me save you a hoop (and potential meltdown) — here are our tested-and-loved, family-friendly restaurants Surrey. From juicy burgers and neon shakes to wood-fired pizza and Thai sharing platters, these spots hit the sweet spot between fun, flavour and sanity-saving convenience.
1. The Spring Tavern, Ewell

Why we love it: Beautifully styled pub-restaurant with fairy lights and plush seats—so both parents and tiny diners feel cosy. The kids’ menu comes with mains and dessert choices as well as Sunday roast, and they were flexible when my son wanted prawns added to his linguine. Adult dishes such as rib-eye steak, lobster pot, pork belly & scallops, and a roast dinner with perfect roasties wowed us all. A bit fancy but utterly accessible.
2. The Thames Court, Shepperton

Why we love it: Riverside setting, elegant interiors decorated with Delft tiles and oak panelling. The kids’ meals are great value, with activity sheets and accurate portion sizing. Adults can dive into seafood starters and mains like seared sea bass. Just a heads-up—child portion sizes can vary. Still, lovely for sunny days and riverside family walks.
3. The Giggling Squid, Kingston

Why we love it: For adventurous families with tastebuds! Little Tapas menu lets kids mix dishes—massaman curry, veggie pad thai, pork skewers—and everything’s just-right size. Adults can share delicious plates (think salt-and-pepper squid, red duck curry, sea bass pad cha) and finish on a sweet note with mango cake or berry cheesecake. Friendly service, even on busy nights!
4. The White Hart, Godstone

Why we love it: Historic inn turned upgraded gem. Beautiful original features, calming vibes, roomy interior—you feel welcomed and relaxed. Kid’s menu? Glorious: six options plus activity sheets, and dough balls as starters. Mains such as pasta or pizza fresh from a wood-fired oven, in adorable portions and cute glass cordial bottles. Adult roast rump of lamb and smoked haddock? Also banging. And the dessert sharing board will knock your socks off—towering profiteroles, pavlova, and brownies.
5. Turtle Bay, Staines

Why we love it: Bright, cheerful Caribbean-themed diner. Reggae soundtrack, central bar, Caribbean-themed kids’ fun books (finally, menus separate from colouring!). The kids could order from the adult menu if you asked—you just risk needing mild ordering overrides. Food was fun and bold—whitebait, jerk ribs, pork belly—and even if a few dishes missed heat or got misordered, the vibe made up for it. Great for families craving flavour with flair.
6. The Retreat, Staines

Why we love it: Bright, modern gastropub with exposed brick and reclaimed wood, and a garden where toddlers can burn off theme-park energy. Inside, you can keep an eye on them and relax with a good menu—platter starters, ham & eggs for kids, Wagyu burgers, Lamb Henry with Lyonnaise potatoes. Desserts scored brownie points, though I’ll admit my cheesecake had a soggy base and a bittersweet finish. Still, the overall vibe is practical and pleasant.
7. Bill’s, Kingston

Why we love it: Riverside views, a varied menu that suits all tastes, and prompt, friendly service. Standouts? His macaroni cheese (he wants hot sauce, always), my Melting Chocolate Bombe dessert—decadent and shareable. The boys loved their ice-cream sundaes and brownies. Easy, satisfying, and rated 10/10 for calm-but-feels-casual family outings.
8. Carluccio’s, Richmond

Why we love it: Modern brand-new look at Richmond, bright interiors, relaxed mood. Adult starters like calamari fritti and prawn marinara were light and moreish. The mains of steak and seabass looked cooked to perfection. Kids had a set menu with veggie sticks, meatballs, and strawberry ice cream. Option to swap adult dishes for smaller portions? Genius.
9. Cinnamon Kitchen, Battersea

Why we love it: Borderline Surrey, but still love-worthy! Under railway arches near Battersea Power Station, serving modern Indian food with a smart set-lunch offer (£24 for 2 courses). Kids under 8 get a £10.50 two-course lunch with a drink. We tried ribs, beetroot veg cake (yum!), aubergine, and lamb curry—spoiler: the aubergine could become a home-recipe hero. Portions nicely balanced, adventurous kids approved.
10. Poor Boys, Kingston

Why we love it: Laid-back New Orleans vibes right on the river. After our Kingston boat trip, this was the perfect stop — po’ boy sandwiches stacked with shrimp and chicken, fries that disappeared in minutes, and milkshakes the boys declared “the best ever.” The portions are generous (seriously, don’t over-order), and the atmosphere is relaxed enough that kids can make a bit of noise without anyone blinking. Big thumbs up for flavour and family comfort combined.
11. Beefeater Monkey Puzzle, Chessington

Why we love it: A classic family-friendly spot that does exactly what you need it to. Reliable kids’ menu with plenty of choice, colouring sheets to keep them busy, and big hearty portions for grown-ups. We went for steaks and burgers, while the boys tucked into pasta and sundaes. Nothing pretentious, just solid food in a casual setting — and a convenient option if you’re heading to or from Chessington World of Adventures.
12. Chakra, Kingston

Why we love it: Gorgeous modern Indian restaurant that feels a little more grown-up, but still very welcoming to families. The décor is lush, the service warm, and the food genuinely wowed us. Think butter chicken, lamb rogan josh, prawn masala, with naan breads that vanish in seconds. For kids who like flavour, there’s plenty to try, and staff were happy to tone down spice where needed. A great choice if you fancy something a little different from the usual family meal out.
Family Friendly Restaurants Surrey: Our Favourites
These restaurants have all earned their place in our real-life, day-out dining map. They combine family-friendly menus, considerate service, and a feel-good atmosphere — with enough variety to suit toddlers to teens and parents craving something beyond nuggets and fries. Whether you’re local, day-tripping, or testing new spots, Surrey has tasty options that feel like a hug and a small adventure in one.
From juicy burgers and wood-fired pizza to New Orleans-style po’ boys, sizzling steaks, and Indian feasts with naan as big as your head, there’s a go-to here for every craving. Surrey’s family-friendly food scene is bigger than you think — and these are the places we’d happily go back to, sticky fingers and all.

![[AD] The sun has finally made an appearance and the boys have been making the most of it by spending it
in the garden.
They’re go-to is always football and they’ve been trying to improve their aim and accuracy with the new Messi Foldable Footlball goal from the #MessiTrainingSystem range.
I love the fact the goal is foldable, making it easy to store away when not in use. It is also lightweight so you can effortlessly pack it up and take it to the park or to a friend’s house.
The Messi Foldable Football Goal retails at £36 and can be purchased from @argos
