The benefits of LED Lighting

We are all conscious of being kinder to the environment these days, and there are now many products out there that can help us achieve this. With a variety of colours and styles, LED lighting is a popular choice. It’s fully customisable, and you can connect the lights to dimmer switches and create different atmospheres in different rooms.

Here are some other benefits to having LED lighting.

Last longer than traditional lightbulbs

LED lights can last up to 25 times longer than traditional light bulbs meaning that they don’t need to be replaced as often. So not only will they last longer, but in the long run, they will also save you money too.

Free of chemicals

LED lights are free of chemicals which can be harmful to the environment.

Other types of lighting, such as compact fluorescent lights contain mercury.

Consumes less energy

Did you know that LEDs are up to 80% more energy-efficient compared to normal bulbs? They convert 95% of their energy into light with only 5% being wasted as heat. This means your energy bills will be lower as LED lights will need less energy to produce lighting.

Smaller carbon footprint

LED lights use 90% less energy than typical lightbulbs which means fewer fossil fuels need to be burned in order to produce it. In turn, this will decrease your carbon footprint.

Only emits a small amount of heat

Bulbs such as halogen can get very hot when in use, meaning you have to be careful if you need to change them. LED lights only ever emit a small amount of heat so they are cool to touch and safe to replace without the need to wait for the bulb to cool down.

We have been gradually switching our lights at home to LED ones, and I really like the fact there are so many different colours and styles available. When we eventually get around to extending our home I will be looking into creative ways to incorporate smart LED lighting into it too.
