Why Guildford might just be the perfect place to call home
There’s a delightful little secret nestled between the folds of Surrey’s green countryside. A place where cobbled streets meet modern cafes, where the hum of history mingles with the promise of tomorrow. This bewitching spot? Why, it’s Guildford, of course!
The Guildford glow
Right off the bat, Guildford is not your average town. It exudes a quaint charm that’s hard to define, but it’s unmistakably evident once you step into its embrace. Those winding streets tell tales of yesteryears, while the bustling shopping scenes are evidence of its step into the contemporary era.
Sip on some tea at a local café, watch the world go by from the banks of the River Wey, or meander through the ruins of Guildford Castle. Every corner turned is a delightful surprise, a postcard moment waiting to be captured.
Many of us have dreamt of living in such a nice place, haven’t we? But then, a niggling voice reminds us of the cost. Yes, that ever-present spectre of house prices, looming large and often pushing dreams into the realms of fantasy. Particularly in sought-after spots like Guildford, it’s easy to feel priced out and resigned to the idea that this isn’t a place for ‘ordinary’ pockets.
However, what if there was a path that led straight to the heart of this dream, without burning a hole in your wallet? SH New Homes are your gateway to finding the perfect property match whatever your budget. Whether you’re a first-time buyer or looking to make a savvy investment, their platform provides a curated selection of shared ownership homes that help you get on the property ladder affordably.

Shared Ownership: your Guildford gateway
Shared Ownership might sound like a plot from a feel-good film, but it’s as real as the Guildford Cathedral’s spires! Shared Ownership lets you buy a slice of your property, say 25% or 50%, and rent the rest. As time goes by, and perhaps a few pay raises come your way, you can increase your share.
What’s the big deal, you ask? Well, think about this: Instead of perpetually renting or waiting indefinitely to gather funds for outright purchase, you get to live in your dream location, slowly but steadily working towards full ownership. For many, this is the key to unlocking a lifestyle that seemed just out of reach. And with this scheme, Guildford is no longer a distant dream but a tangible reality.
But why Guildford?
Apart from the undeniable charm, Guildford is incredibly family-friendly. Good schools? Check. Lovely parks for the kiddos? Double-check. Efficient transport links to London? Absolutely. It’s about 35 minutes by train to London’s Waterloo, making daily commutes a breeze.
There’s a sense of community here that’s genuinely heartwarming. From farmer’s markets where local produce shines to festivals celebrating art, music, and culture – Guildford isn’t just a place to live; it’s a place to thrive.
This town is nestled amidst the rolling Surrey hills, where historic charm marries modern convenience. Centrally located, you’re about 35 minutes away from London’s Waterloo by train, making those city commutes a seamless experience. But why rush to the capital when Guildford itself is bursting with attractions?

With its centuries of history, the Guildford Castle is just a leisurely stroll away from the High Street, known for its eclectic range of shops and boutiques. Speaking of streets, did you know the cobbled Guildford lanes are home to some of the finest eateries and cafes in Surrey? And if a day of shopping and gourmet delights tires you out, the serene banks of the River Wey are but a stone’s throw away.
For those who cherish the arts, the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre showcases riveting performances all year round. For weekend jaunts, towns like Woking and Farnham are under 20 minutes by car, giving you ample opportunities to explore Surrey’s breadth. From its bustling town centre, brimming with amenities, to its close proximity to both nature and urban hubs, Guildford effortlessly weaves a tapestry of experiences, ensuring there’s something for everyone.
A Guildford tale for everyone
Whether you’re a fresh graduate, a blossoming family, or someone looking to retreat from urban cacophonies, Guildford seems to have a chapter for every tale. If this all sounds like Guildford might be the place for you to call home, why let financial constraints dictate your narrative? Shared Ownership in Guildford isn’t just a financial scheme; it’s a doorway to setting up a home affordably.

![[AD] The sun has finally made an appearance and the boys have been making the most of it by spending it
in the garden.
They’re go-to is always football and they’ve been trying to improve their aim and accuracy with the new Messi Foldable Footlball goal from the #MessiTrainingSystem range.
I love the fact the goal is foldable, making it easy to store away when not in use. It is also lightweight so you can effortlessly pack it up  and take it to the park or to a friend’s house.
The Messi Foldable Football Goal retails at £36 and can be purchased from @argos
