Private or Public school for your child: 6 pros and cons of both
Making the decision to send your child to a private or public school is one of the most important decisions you will ever make as a parent. Both schools have their own set of pros and cons, which can be difficult to weigh up. In this article, we will take a look at both types of schools and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each. We hope that this information will help you make an informed decision about what is best for your family.

The pros of Private schools
Better individual treatment
One of the main advantages of private schools is that they are able to offer a more personalised education. As class sizes are smaller, teachers are able to give each student the individual attention that they need in order to succeed.
Higher motivation to learn
Private school students also tend to be more motivated than their public school counterparts. This is because private schools often have a more competitive environment and higher academic standards. With the expected private school fees being higher than public school fees, parents and guardians of children attending private schools often have higher expectations for their child’s academic performance. This can lead to students working harder and being more engaged in their learning.
Alternative Teaching methods
Another advantage of private schools is that they often offer alternative teaching methods. Private schools are known for their innovative teaching methods. These methods may include Montessori, Waldorf, or Reggio Emilia. They often experiment with new educational approaches and technologies, which can benefit all students. These methods can be beneficial for children who learn best in a non-traditional setting.
The cons of Private schools
Some are influenced by religious beliefs
One of the main disadvantages of private schools is that some are influenced by religious beliefs. This can mean that certain topics are not taught in accordance with your personal beliefs. It is important to do your research before enrolling your child in a private school to make sure that their curriculum aligns with your family’s values.
Longer school hours
Another downside to private schools is that they often have longer school hours than public schools. This can be difficult for working parents or guardians. It can also be challenging for students who are involved in extracurricular activities.
Teacher regulation
Private schools are also less regulated than public schools when it comes to the hiring and firing of teachers. This means that there is a higher turnover rate of teachers in private schools. It is important to make sure that the private school you are considering has a good reputation for retaining quality teachers.
The pros of Public schools
Accessible
One of the main advantages of public schools is that they are accessible to all families, regardless of income level. All children in the UK are entitled to free public education. This is not the case with private schools, which often have tuition fees that can be out of reach for many families. This means that public schools are more inclusive and provide an education to a wider range of children.
Provided transportation
Another benefit of public schools is that they often provide transportation for students. This can be a huge advantage for families who do not have access to a car or live in rural areas. It also takes the stress out of having to drop your child off at school every day. It can be a huge time-saver for busy families!
Certified teachers
All teachers in public schools are required to be certified. This means that they have gone through the proper training and education to be a teacher. In private schools, this is not always the case. They have gone through the necessary training and background checks to ensure that they are qualified to teach in a public school setting. Private schools do not always have this requirement, which can lead to lower-quality teaching in some cases. While some private schools do hire certified teachers, there are no regulations requiring them to do so.
The cons of Public schools
Bigger class sizes
One of the main disadvantages of public schools is that they often have bigger class sizes than private schools. This can make it difficult for students to get the individual attention that they need from their teachers. It can also lead to disruptive behaviour if there are too many students in one classroom. Additionally, large class sizes can make it difficult for teachers to properly assess each student’s individual needs.
Fewer curriculum options
Public schools also often have fewer curriculum options than private schools. This means that your child may not be able to study the subjects that they are most interested in. It can also limit the opportunities for students to explore their talents and abilities.
Less specialised
Public schools are also less specialised than private schools. This means that they often do not have the same resources or facilities as private schools. Private schools may have special programs for children with learning disabilities or gifted students. For example, public schools may not have art or music programs. They also may not have sports teams or after-school clubs. This can make it difficult for students to find an activity that they are passionate about and excel in.

The decision of whether to send your child to a private or public school is a personal one. There are pros and cons to both types of schools. It is important to consider all of the factors before making a decision. You should also visit both types of schools to see which one is the best fit for your child. Ultimately, the most important thing is that your child receives a quality education that meets their individual needs. Think about your child’s interests and learning style when making your decision. With so many options available, you are sure to find the perfect school for your child! Make sure to do your research to find the best school for your family. By taking the time to do this, you can be sure that your child will receive a quality education that will set them up for success in life.

in the garden.
They’re go-to is always football and they’ve been trying to improve their aim and accuracy with the new Messi Foldable Footlball goal from the #MessiTrainingSystem range.
I love the fact the goal is foldable, making it easy to store away when not in use. It is also lightweight so you can effortlessly pack it up and take it to the park or to a friend’s house.
The Messi Foldable Football Goal retails at £36 and can be purchased from @argos
