A Mexican Feast with Old El Paso Gluten Free Fajita Kits + giveaway

On average, we get to sit down to eat as a family only three days a week. The boys eat at the childminders on Mondays and Wednesdays, and I’ll cook them their dinner on Thursdays and Fridays. This leaves Tuesdays, the day Mr H works from home where we have a meal together, but this is often rushed as we have to squeeze in homework and reading too.

It means that come the weekend, we can thankfully have a more relaxed routine without feeling rushed and really enjoy our food together – and we do love our food!

Apart from having to keep a watch on their fibre intake, we’re quite lucky that both boys are good eaters and eat most things. We’re big fans of the Old El Paso range so when we were sent their new Gluten Free version to try it was the perfect excuse for a Mexican Feast!

Old El Paso Gluten Free Fajita Kit Smoky BBQ

It’s great to see that Old El Paso now have a gluten-free version for those that suffer from food intolerances or allergies.

As mentioned above, we’ve used Old El Paso Fajitas kits before – they’re so easy to make and can feed a family of four in less than 20 minutes, so there’s no need to feel like your slaving away in the kitchen.

Mexican Feast with Old El Paso Gluten Free Fajita Kit

The Gluten Free Fajita Kit includes all bits you need to make your fajitas and come with:

  • 8 x Gluten-free flour Tortillas
  • 1 x Mild Smoky BBQ seasoning
  • 1 x Tomato Salsa

To make, you simply cook the meat of choice, (we usually have chicken) add in the Smoky BBQ seasoning before throwing in some peppers and onions.

We usually add iceberg lettuce, sour cream and some grated cheese into our tortillas. Sometimes we’ll also throw in some guacamole and some refried beans too.

The Gluten-Free Tortillas were a hit with the boys – they were gobbled up rather quickly. Taste-wise, we couldn’t taste the difference with the gluten-free version compared to the normal ones. The one thing we did notice – the tortilla wraps were slightly smaller. I’m not sure if this is down to them being gluten-free, but it didn’t make any difference to the taste of them.

Fajita’s are always a good meal to have as a family – we can all get stuck in with everything laid out on the table and everyone can help themselves.

We’ll definitely continue to have these as they are a quick and easy family meal. I love the fact we can choose the gluten-free ones now too without worrying about losing any of the Old El Paso flavour.

  1. These look great and I like how involved kids can get with creating exactly the meal they want. I swear my daughter gets more finicky every single day so something like this might encourage her to not just turn her nose up at whatever’s on her plate! #KCACOLS

  2. We love fajitas, so we don’t get them as often as I would like. Nice to see some more allergy free foods out there, especially interesting ones! #kcacols

  3. What a great giveaway, and the fajitas look tasty. My friend is celiac this would be a really nice way for us to share a meal that wouldn’t have to be separated out. Thanks for joining in with #KCACOLS see you next time!
