Blue Kangaroo Book Review
The Blue Kangaroo series is written and illustrated by award-winning Emma Chichester Clark. It’s about a young girl called Lily and her best friend Blue Kangaroo of course! We’ve been reading three of the books from the series.
Happy Birthday, Blue Kangaroo!
It’s Lilly and Blue Kangaroos birthday and they are celebrating with a party. There are pink invitations, pink decorations, pink food and pink presents. Blue Kangaroo starts to feel a bit left out. Does it mean that Lily no longer loves Blue Kangaroo?
Where Are You, Blue Kangaroo?
Lily likes to take Blue Kangaroo with her wherever she goes but she keeps misplacing him! In this book Blue Kangaroo is worried about being left behind all the time and so hides away. This story has a lovely message behind it and teaches children that they should learn to look after their belongings.
When I First Met You, Blue Kangaroo
This book recalls how Lily first met Blue Kangaroo after the arrival of her new baby brother. She worries that by making mistakes when trying to help look after her brother and Blue Kangaroo will mean that they no longer love her. This is a lovely little story that lets children know that just because a new baby comes along does not mean they are any less loved.
Overall, these are a lovely set of books that are beautifully illustrated. Each book has some kind of underlining message or lesson which is a really nice touch. They would be perfect for children aged 2-5. The boys favourite out of the set is Where Are You, Blue Kangaroo? They enjoy shouting this out when we read it and look for Blue Kangaroo on every page.
Have you heard of the Blue Kangaroo series before?
