Review: The Gruffalo Deep Dark Wood Game

This favourite children’s story by Julia Donaldson now comes as a board game! The boys were very excited when this came through the post and were very keen to test it out.

The Gruffalo Deep Dark Wood Game

The Gruffalo Deep Dark Wood Game by Ravensburger is suitable for children aged 3+ which meant it was perfect for my boys to play with together. It’s for up to four players so of course I had to join in with them.

The set comes with:

  • Game board
  • 5 Plastic trees
  • 5 Discs
  • 4 mouse figures
  • Hazelnut piece
  • Dice

The aim of the game, much like the book, is to help the mouse through the deep dark wood, avoiding the hungry Fox, Owl and Snake. It’s a lovely little game and what I really like is the fact there is the option to play a slightly simplified version for younger children.

If your children love the Gruffalo then this game would be ideal. It helps pre-school children improve their counting and memorising skills and only takes 10 minutes or so to complete so great for children who don’t have a long attention span.

I am offering the chance for one of my readers to win a copy of their own game.
