3 ways to enjoy your yard all year round
Given the cost of properties these days, it’s important that we’re using as much of the space available to us as possible. You wouldn’t think to leave a room without a purpose, yet that’s what many people end up doing with their yards. While the UK weather means that it’s not always instinctive to spend time in your back garden, with a little time and effort, you can create an outdoor space that you enjoy during the balmy summer months and during winter.
Below, we’ll run through five tips that’ll help to create a yard you love to spend time in whatever the weather.
Hire a Landscaper
Your outdoor space is there, but could you describe it as a garden? Unless you’ve taken the time to put together an attractive, well-curated space, then the answer is probably ‘no.’ While it’s very much possible to get your garden into shape yourself, it does take work and time — and if you know that, realistically, that’s just something you’re not going to do, then it’ll be best to hire a landscaper to do the job for you. They’ll charge for their services, of course, but once they’re done, you’ll have a beautiful garden that you love to look at. It’s also advisable to install a water feature, which can help create a zen-like atmosphere and attract wildlife.
Create a living space
Of course, your garden isn’t just there to be admired from afar. It’s for enjoying up close. For that, you’ll need to put together an outdoor living space. This is a space outside your back door where you can sit back and unwind and simply enjoy being outside. You don’t need much to create this space. Deckings and awnings can help to set the tone; from there, you’ll just need to add some outdoor furniture. It’s best to have dining tables and chairs and then a couple of lounge chairs so you can sit back and enjoy the sun. Just like that, you’ll have another living space on your property.
From there, you can look at adding other staples of summer yard fun. For example, a quality BBQ will allow you to host your friends and family on summer afternoons. Adding some outdoor lighting is also a good idea, so you can stay outside even once the sun sets.
Winter comfort
Most people think they can only use their yards during the spring and summer months. Yet, while that might be the time when you use your gardens the most, it’s also possible to enjoy being outside during the colder months of the year. It’s just that you’ll need to work to make it possible. Adding a firepit is easier than you might think, and once you have it installed, you’ll be able to spend those starry winter nights outside. We’re not saying that you’ll be warm, but you’ll at least be comfortable. And hey, it beats spending the winter watching television.
